MODULE THREEIntegration of Counseling Theories & Techniques
Module Three of the CIC Training is a five-day intensive awarding 35 Continuing Education credits, including 6 in ethics. This capstone module immerses participants in the major counseling theories—highlighting their core models, benefits, and key techniques—without the depth or time required for separate certifications. Learners will gain practical, ethically sound tools they can confidently apply within CIC’s Whole Person Integration framework, ensuring theory and technique serve the integration of cognitive, emotional, physiological, and spiritual development while staying within their scope of competence.
- Cohort 1 & 2: October 23-27, 2026
- Emphasizes the importance of theory-driven practice, ensuring techniques are used purposefully and congruently within an integrated framework.
- Provides an overview of key counseling theories that dominate the field—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Family Systems, Attachment Theory, and more.
- Introduces CIC’s “Redemptive Thread” model—Design, Breach, Restore—as a tool to evaluate and align various theories with a biblically grounded view of healing.
- Organizes major counseling theories according to which aspect of the person they primarily address (cognitive, emotional, physiological, or spiritual), helping clinicians choose wisely for each client’s needs.
- Highlights salient techniques from each theory that can support client growth while honoring ethical practice and integrative care.
- Trains professionals to ethically evaluate their scope of practice, knowing when to refer or seek additional training to protect client wellbeing and maintain clinical integrity.
